No well-prepared meal is complete without the inclusion of a savory appetizer to kick things off. As much as we hate to admit it, we can all remember a time when we have delved so deep into a savory side dish, that we hardly had any appetite left when the meal’s main course was served.
If you are currently looking for the perfect appetizer to cook, when preparing a meal for friends or family, take the time to consider Venison and Cream Cheese Stuffed Crescent Rolls as your dish of choice.
This culinary creation blends mouthwatering ground venison, with perfectly baked crescent rolls, in order to produce a finger food that you, nor your guests, will be able to put down.
Preparing Your Ingredients
As with any dish, the ingredients used during the preparation of Venison and Cream Cheese Stuffed Crescent Rolls all carry their own specific value, and serve a vital role in creating a delicious final product.
Before cooking can begin, gather the following ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 pound ground venison
¼ cup red onion, diced
1 tsp minced garlic
¼ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp Season All
2 jalapenos, chopped
8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
3 green onions, chopped
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 cans of crescent rolls
Before You Begin
Before cooking can begin, you will preheat your oven to 350 degrees. You will also lightly spray a baking pan with cooking spray, or line it with parchment paper, and set it aside.
Preparing the Filling
Begin by placing your ground venison, minced garlic, and chopped red onion in an appropriately sized skillet. Cook these ingredients over medium heat, while breaking up the venison as it cooks. When the meat is partially cooked, add the garlic powder and Season All, while stirring thoroughly. Next, add your chopped jalapenos, and continue cooking until the venison is done throughout. Once the meat is cooked thoroughly, drain any excess grease.
Now you will add the softened cream cheese. Additionally, you will add your chopped green onion, salt, and pepper to taste. Using a spoon, stir all ingredients together until evenly distributed.
Forming the Rolls
You will now open each can of crescent rolls. Spread out all triangle shaped rolls onto the prepared pan. Spoon approximately 1/4 cup of the meat mixture onto each roll, until all triangles are evenly filled. Fold the corners of each roll to its center, and press down sealing the rolls securely.
Baking the Rolls
Place the baking sheets into the oven for 8-12 minutes, removing them when the rolls are golden brown. When cooked, let the rolls stand for 5 minutes prior to serving. If any leftovers remain, these rolls can be sealed in an airtight container, and refrigerated for a period of up to three days.
A Pre-Meal Delicacy
Perhaps the most wonderful characteristic of Venison and Cream Cheese Stuffed Crescent Rolls is that they can be prepared without expending an excessive amount of time or energy. If you have dinner already cooking, and guests are expected to arrive within the hour, this can be the perfect dish to top off your efforts.
Venison and Cream Cheese Stuffed Crescent Rolls are also as rich in taste, as they are simple to cook. Much like Lays Potato Chips, you simply cannot have just one. This winter, if you have a little extra ground venison at your disposal, and are in search of a unique way to put it to use, be sure to give Venison and Cream Cheese Stuffed Crescent Rolls a try.
